The National Liberal Party (NLP) has launched its 36th branch in Kitui Central Constituency, marking yet another milestone in its fast-paced grassroots expansion campaign across the country. The move reinforces the party’s growing footprint in the Eastern region and signals its readiness to contest nationally in the 2027 General Election.
Led by Party Leader Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli, NLP has rapidly gained traction in recent months, with over 130,000 new members registered in Kitui County alone since April. The Kitui Central office becomes the latest addition to a series of offices opened recently, including the 34th in Muangeni, Kitui South, and the 35th in L.imuru, Kiambu County.

“This is not just another political event—it is a revolution of ideas. We are here to build a party from the people, by the people, and for the people,” said Dr. Muli while addressing supporters at the launch event.
The opening comes just weeks after NLP held a widely attended National Delegates Conference on June 28, 2025, at The Woods Hotel in Kitui Central. The event brought together thousands of party delegates from across the country and set the tone for a new political direction centered on youth empowerment, economic fairness, and inclusive leadership.
During the NDC, the party ratified key constitutional amendments and established a 2027 Strategy Council to lead its pre-election preparations.
The Kitui Central branch, according to regional party officials, will act as a mobilization hub ahead of ward-level recruitment drives set to roll out in August. Local coordinators praised the launch as timely, especially amid growing dissatisfaction with traditional political parties in the region.
“We are ready to disrupt the status quo. NLP is now a real option for Kitui residents and beyond,” said Samuel Wambua, the constituency’s interim branch coordinator.
With 36 branches and counting, the National Liberal Party is emerging as a formidable third force on Kenya’s political stage, particularly in Eastern, Central, and parts of Rift Valley. The party’s leadership has hinted at launching several more branches before the end of the year, cementing its presence at the grassroots level.
As 2027 edges closer, all indications show that NLP is not just expanding—it is positioning itself for a serious national contest.
