Meru MCAs Move to Oust Nine Cabinet Members Ahead of Governor Mwangaza’s Judgment

Meru politics has once again been thrown into turmoil after Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) tabled a motion to impeach nine members of Governor Kawira Mwangaza’s cabinet, citing gross misconduct, abuse of office, incompetence, and other serious violations.

The move, seen as a direct escalation of the political wars gripping Meru County, comes just a day before the much-anticipated judgment on Governor Mwangaza’s own fate, which could determine whether she survives the latest onslaught against her administration.

    High-Stakes Political Showdown

The impeachment motion, fronted by a section of MCAs opposed to Mwangaza’s leadership, seeks to send home key executives who they accuse of mismanaging county affairs, engaging in corruption, and failing to deliver on their mandates. Among the allegations leveled against the targeted officials are irregular tendering processes, misuse of public funds, and outright disregard for county laws.

“This administration has continuously failed to deliver services to the people of Meru, and we cannot sit back and watch impunity thrive. These executives must be held accountable,” said one MCA who supported the motion.

    Mwangaza’s Judgment Looms

The timing of the impeachment push raises eyebrows as it comes barely hours before the expected ruling on Governor Mwangaza’s legal battle, a case that has kept the county on edge. Mwangaza has been facing intense scrutiny and repeated clashes with the assembly since taking office, with accusations ranging from mismanagement to political intolerance.

Sources close to the county leadership indicate that the MCAs’ move is a preemptive strike aimed at crippling Mwangaza’s administration, regardless of whether she survives her latest legal test.

    Governor’s Camp Fires Back

Allies of Governor Mwangaza have dismissed the impeachment motion as a witch-hunt orchestrated by political detractors who are hell-bent on frustrating her administration.

“This is nothing but a continuation of the political games meant to derail development in Meru. These MCAs are not acting in the interests of the people but are instead driven by external forces seeking control of the county,” a close aide to Mwangaza stated.

    What Next for Meru?

With tension mounting, all eyes are now on the judgment set to be delivered tomorrow. If Governor Mwangaza is cleared, her next battle will be protecting her cabinet from the wrath of the MCAs. However, if the ruling goes against her, the county could be staring at a fresh leadership crisis.

As political temperatures soar in Meru, residents remain anxious about what the coming days will bring, with many hoping for stability in the county’s leadership. Will Mwangaza weather this storm, or is this the final nail in the coffin for her administration? The next 24 hours will be decisive.
