Police in Mathuki, Mwingi Central Constituency, are searching for a 30-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy before fleeing the area.

According to the victim’s family, the suspect, who is well-known to the boy, allegedly ambushed the primary school student on his way home and committed the heinous act.

The boy confided in his parents upon returning home, prompting them to take him to the hospital. Medical examinations confirmed that the boy had been sodomized. The family then reported the incident to the police, who have since launched an investigation.

This incident adds to the growing number of gender-based violence cases reported in Kitui County. Last month, a local preacher in Mathima, Kitui South Constituency, allegedly coerced a college student into sexual acts before disappearing.
