Kitui County governor Dr Julius Malombe has moved a step closer to delivering a major health infrastructure project in Kitui County after holding a high-level consultative meeting with officials from the Ministry of Defence at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi.

On Tuesday, The Governor met top Defence officials led by Principal Secretary Patrick Mariru, where the two leaders agreed to settle on a date next week for the official site handover of the Late Nzamba Kitonga Memorial Hospital.

The multi-million-shilling facility is set to be constructed in Mutitu, Kitui East Subcounty, and is expected to significantly improve access to quality healthcare services for residents of Kitui East and the larger Lower Eastern region.

The agreed site handover will pave the way for the groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for later this month, formally marking the commencement of construction works.
