A Makadara Principal Magistrate who was shot by a police officer mid this week has died while receiving treatment.
Principal Magistrate Monica Kivuti was shot on the hips by Londiani OCS Samson Kipruto after cancelling his wife bond after missing several court sessions.
A police report filed by Jogoo Rd OCS indicated that the 55-year old Samson Kipruto , entered inside the court through the magistrates door and fired shots towards the magistrate injuring her on the chest and left hip.
This is after his wife an accused in a case of obtaining money by false pretence amounting to Ksh.2.9 million was denied bail by the court, after pleading to be released on cash bail.
During the incident three other police officers who were on duty inside the court were injured and rushed to hospital in stable .
It has since emerged that the late Magistrate Ms Monica Kivuti was from Gatundiri , Mbeti North Ward , Mnayatta Constituency, Embu County.
Following the news of her passing on, Embu governor Hon Cecile Mbarire took to her socials to mourn and celebrate her.
“I am saddened to learn about the passing on of Ms. Monica Kivuti-Principal magistrate at the Makadara law courts.
We have lost a gallant legal practitioner, unfortunately in the line of duty after a fatal shooting, and who had a very promising future in the legal career.
My condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Kìvùti wa Kara and may Monica’s soul rest in peace.” She said
