    Kitui County’s Bold Investment Drive: Trade Minstry Unveils Grand Vision for Economic Boom

    Kitui County is gearing up for a game-changing investment revolution, as the County Government, under the leadership of Governor Julius Malombe’s administration, launches an ambitious strategy to transform the local economy.

    Kitui County CECM for Trade, Industry, MSMEs, Innovation, and Cooperatives, Rose Mutuku, takes members of the media on a tour of the Kitui County Aggregation and Industrial Park in Kanyonyo during a press briefing, highlighting its role in the county’s investment agenda.

    Speaking at Kitui Industrial Park located in Kanyonyoo during a media briefing, the County Executive Committee Member for Trade, Industry, MSMEs, Innovation, and Cooperatives, Mrs. Rose Mutuku, outlined the grand vision ahead of the highly anticipated Kitui Local Investors Sensitization Forum, slated for March 13-14, 2025 at the Kitui County Aggregation and Industrial Park, Kanyonyo.

    With over 1,500 investors, MSMEs, and stakeholders expected to attend, the forum aims to unravel the untapped investment potential in Kitui County, setting the stage for an economic transformation never witnessed before.

    Ongoing construction at the Kitui County Aggregation and Industrial Park in Kanyonyo, now 40% complete. The project, expected to be finalized by November, is set to become a key driver of industrialization and economic growth in the county.

    Kitui’s Billion-Shilling Opportunity: Six Economic Investment Zones (EIZs) Mapped Out

    In what is being described as a blueprint for economic prosperity, the county government has identified six strategic Economic Investment Zones (EIZs), each rich with resources and potential:

    1. Kyuso-Mumoni-Tseikuru-Tharaka
    2. Mwingi Town and its Environs
    3. Mui Basin
    4. Kanyangi-Kwa Vonza-Kanyonyo
    5. Kitui Town and its Environs
    6. Mutomo-Ikutha-Kanziko-Mutha-Athi
    A glimpse of the ongoing construction of aggregation centers at the Kitui County Aggregation and Industrial Park in Kanyonyo. Once completed, these facilities will boost value addition, enhance market access, and create opportunities for local producers and investors.

    These zones will be the focal point of investment, with the county seeking to attract private investors, government agencies, and development partners to exploit Kitui’s vast resources, including minerals, agribusiness, manufacturing, and tourism.

    Kitui’s Grand Vision: A Precursor to the International Investment Conference

    The Local Investors’ Sensitization Forum is not just another business event—it is the precursor to the highly anticipated Kitui County International Investment Conference in October 2025. The county aims to position itself as the investment hub of Lower Eastern Kenya, attracting both local and international investors to drive economic growth, job creation, and wealth distribution.

    With the theme “Unlocking Kitui’s Investment Potential for Investors” (Kuvingua myanya ya atandithya Kaundini ya Kitui), the forum will provide critical insights into fiscal incentives, industry regulations, and networking opportunities to encourage local business growth.

    Key Sectors Targeted for Investment

    The county government is aggressively pushing for investment in various sectors, aligning with what it calls “The Kitui Promise.” These include: Agriculture & Agribusiness, Water and Sanitation , Health and Education , Urban Development & Roads Trade, Investment & MSMEs, Cooperative among others.

    CECM Rose Mutuku: “Kitui’s Future is in Our Hands”

    Kitui County Trade CEC Mrs. Rose Mutuku maintains that Governor Julius Malombe’s vision of transformational leadership through mindset change, urging Kitui residents to shift their perspective from obstacles to opportunities.

    “It is time to shift our perspective to see investment where we once saw obstacles, to build partnerships, and to embrace innovations as the path to prosperity. Kitui’s future is in our hands, and with the right mindset, we can unlock its full potential and create sustainable wealth for generations to come,” she stated.

    The countdown to March 13-14 has begun, and all eyes are on Kitui as it seeks to redefine its economic destiny. Will this be the turning point that finally propels Kitui into an investment powerhouse? Only time will tell, but one thing is clear—the county is open for business like never before.
