The Kitui business community is living in fear following the daring robbery at Jayveer Enterprises Hardware, where a gang of heavily armed criminals executed a watchman, left another critically injured, and made away with millions in cash. The shocking attack, which took place last week along Mbusyani Road, has sent panic waves across local traders, who are now calling for urgent security intervention before more businesses fall victim.
Business Leaders Demand Swift Action
Speaking exclusively to Channel 15 News, Kitui Business Community Chairman Alex Mwendwa Munyoki urged the newly appointed Kitui County Security Chief to immediately beef up security and ensure that the culprits behind the attack are brought to justice.
“We cannot run businesses in fear. This attack was not random—it was well planned, and the thugs clearly knew what they were doing. We demand swift action from law enforcement before another business is hit,” Munyoki stated.
Inside the Deadly Heist
Details emerging from the attack paint a picture of a well-coordinated, high-stakes robbery. According to preliminary investigations, the criminals shot the guards before storming into the premises, where they rounded up businessman Jayveer’s family at gunpoint.

The gang then forced the businessman to surrender all cash sales and even demanded that he transfer large sums via M-Pesa to multiple unknown numbers. In a final move to cover their tracks, the robbers forced Jayveer’s son to lead them to the CCTV control unit, where they disconnected and destroyed the recording devices before vanishing into the night.
The entire three-hour ordeal has left the business community in shock, with many now questioning the effectiveness of Kitui’s security apparatus.
No Arrests, Rising Fears
Days after the horrifying incident, not a single suspect has been arrested, raising concerns over the progress of police investigations. Sources close to the case hint at the possibility of an insider job, given how smoothly the gang navigated the premises and targeted specific assets.
Kitui Central Sub-County DCI boss John Gacheru has assured the public that detectives are actively pursuing leads, including tracing the M-Pesa transactions made during the heist and analyzing forensic evidence from the scene. However, traders remain skeptical, fearing that this case might go cold, just like many others before it.
Who’s Next? A Town on Edge
With no arrests and a dangerous gang still on the loose, business owners in Kitui are now taking matters into their own hands, exploring options like hiring private security and installing advanced surveillance systems to deter potential attacks.
The bigger question remains—was this just the beginning? As Kitui’s business community holds its breath, the fear of another high-profile robbery continues to loom large.
