Garissa came alive today as the Kenya Red Cross Society officially kicked off its 60th-anniversary celebrations, marking six decades of unwavering humanitarian service and impact across the nation. The milestone launch set the stage for a series of activities aimed at strengthening community resilience and reinforcing the organization’s commitment to saving lives.

The celebrations began with a first aid simulation focused on road safety, a crucial exercise in a region where accidents remain a significant concern. Community members actively participated in the drill, learning essential life-saving techniques that can make all the difference in emergencies.

As part of the anniversary initiative, the Red Cross announced plans to train 60 more individuals in first aid, further empowering communities with critical skills. “For 60 years, we have championed first aid as a life-saving tool. Today’s simulation is just the beginning—we are committed to expanding these efforts across the country in the coming months,” a Red Cross official stated.

The launch in Garissa is just the first step, with the #RedCrossat60 celebrations set to roll out across different regions in Kenya. These activities will not only honor the organization’s past achievements but also pave the way for even greater humanitarian impact in the future.

As the journey continues, one thing is clear—Kenya Red Cross remains at the forefront of emergency response and community support, ensuring that no life is lost due to lack of preparedness. Stay tuned as the #RedCrossat60 celebrations unfold nationwide!
