The leaders, who made the bold declaration during a high-profile Thanksgiving dinner hosted by National Liberal Party (NLP) leader and Anzauni Patron Dr. Augustus Muli at his opulent Misuuni residence in Kitui Central, have vowed to fight for the region’s stake in government.

“We are tired of being spectators in Kenya’s development arena,” thundered Dr. Muli. “The Anzauni clan has resolved to work with the government of the day. We are ready to sit at the table, not just as guests, but as active participants shaping the future of our people.”
Amid applause and cheers from the influential gathering, the leaders called on President Ruto to appoint a Cabinet Secretary from Ukambani, signaling the community’s readiness to break ranks with the opposition and embrace the Kenya Kwanza government.

Anzauni elder David Mwoni minced no words: “Our region has been ignored for far too long because of bad political choices. We cannot afford to sit in opposition any longer. It’s time for the Kamba people to stand with the winning side.”
Business mogul Tom Luusa, former Kitui Central parliamentary aspirant Moses Banda, and Engineer Dennis Mwangangi, a former Kitui South MP aspirant, echoed these sentiments, warning that the region risks being left behind if it doesn’t align itself with the current administration.

The leaders blamed decades of opposition politics for the stagnation of development in the region, vowing to personally lead efforts to lobby for more government projects and positions.
“This is not about politics anymore; it’s about survival. If Ruto wants peace and unity, he must give Kambas a Cabinet Secretary. We demand our place at the national table,” declared Engineer Mwangangi.

The Thanksgiving dinner turned into a rallying call for unity and government engagement, with insiders revealing that talks with high-ranking Kenya Kwanza officials are already underway to secure key appointments and projects for the region.

As the region’s politics takes a sensational turn, all eyes are on President Ruto to see if he will heed the call and extend an olive branch to Ukambani leaders now knocking at his door. The stakes are high, and the political realignment could redefine the region’s future in Kenya’s national politics.
