Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has today announced the most radical shift in his political career — the rebranding of the Wiper Democratic Movement into a new political force: the Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF).
The announcement was made in Makindu, Kibwezi West, Makueni County, during the opening salvo of Kalonzo’s grassroots offensive, where he shared the stage with an emboldened Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and flagged by opposition principals .The duo, fresh from their recent political pact following the Muna Tseikuru Declaration, projected unity, purpose, and above all, readiness to seize the 2027 moment.

Kalonzo, speaking with an unusual firmness in his voice, declared that Wiper as Kenyans have known it was stepping aside — not to vanish, but to transform. He described the rebrand as a response to the times: a call to patriotic duty, national realignment, and political rebirth. The Wiper Patriotic Front, he said, would not just be a new name — it would be a new movement, one that stood for justice, truth, and disciplined leadership.

The crowd, mostly local residents but flanked by delegations from across Ukambani and Mt. Kenya, broke into cheers as Kalonzo outlined what he called a shift from “regional survival politics to national purpose.” He made it clear that the WPF would not be a coalition by convenience but a movement grounded in ideology, strategy, and generational transition.

Standing beside him, Rigathi Gachagua — the embattled Deputy President — reinforced the moment’s gravity. Once Ruto’s closest political ally, Gachagua has become one of the President’s most potent internal critics. Today, he hailed Kalonzo’s move as courageous and timely, calling it the beginning of “a national liberation front” aimed at restoring dignity, equity, and economic sanity.

The message was unmistakable. Kalonzo Musyoka is no longer content playing the loyal deputy or the fallback candidate in opposition arrangements. He is repositioning — with Gachagua at his side — to challenge both Kenya Kwanza’s grip on power and ODM’s long dominance of opposition politics.
What was once seen as a quiet 2027 race is now visibly shifting. Kalonzo’s transformation of Wiper into the Wiper Patriotic Front has not only ignited new momentum but has begun redrawing the political map altogether. No longer tied to past coalitions, the man from Tseikuru appears ready to author his own political story — and this time, it’s not one of compromise, but confrontation.
