Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has hit back at President William Ruto’s claims that he is clueless about infrastructure development, describing the remarks as misleading and politically motivated.
Ruto had alleged that Kalonzo, despite decades in leadership, had never built roads even leading to his homestead. Kalonzo was quick to respond, highlighting his role in launching one of Kenya’s most ambitious infrastructure projects.

“As Vice President, I launched the construction of the Kibwezi–Mutomo–Kitui–Mwingi–Tseikuru–Maua–Isiolo road corridor in 2011, a project meant to link Ethiopia to the Port of Mombasa,” Kalonzo said.

According to Kalonzo, although former President Uhuru Kenyatta wanted the project to continue after the Kibaki administration handed over power, Ruto ensured it stalled. To date, he says, the project remains unfinished.
“When President Kibaki and I handed over power, President Uhuru Kenyatta wanted this project to continue, but his deputy, William Ruto, made sure it stalled. Even now, as President, the project remains stalled,” he stated.

“Yesterday, the people of Muriguini came to see me, and today I returned to stand with them. No one will demolish their homes or intimidate them out of their land,” he declared.
He issued a stern warning to anyone attempting land grabs, emphasizing that the opposition will not sit by while Kenyans are dispossessed of their homes, dignity, and livelihoods.
“Let this serve as a clear warning to anyone attempting to grab this land or any other land. As the opposition, we will not sit by as Kenyans are dispossessed,” Kalonzo said.
The confrontation highlights rising political tension between the opposition and the Kenya Kwanza administration over governance, infrastructure, and land rights, with Kalonzo positioning himself as a defender of Kenyans’ homes and regional development initiativ
