National Liberal Party (NLP) Leader Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli has vowed that the Kamba community will not play second fiddle in the 2027 General Election, insisting they will field their own presidential candidate.
Addressing an electrified crowd of thousands at the Kitui Bus Station during an NLP grassroots mobilization drive, Dr. Muli declared, “Hatutauza tena kura zetu kwa wengine. It’s our time. In 2027, we are not supporting anyone—we are voting for one of our own!”

Dr. Muli’s tour, dubbed a “Meet and Greet,” turned into a powerful political statement, with attendees waving party flags and chanting his name in defiance of the status quo. He emphasized that the Kamba community has for far too long been used as a political bargaining chip, only to be sidelined after elections.
“For decades, our numbers have made others presidents, but what have we received in return? Nothing but neglect and empty promises. We are done being spectators,” he said.

Muli argued that the Kamba voting bloc is not only sizable but also a crucial swing vote that can determine Kenya’s next leader. He lamented that its political influence has often been overlooked or undermined.
Just a day earlier in Kwa-Vonza, Dr. Muli hosted fellow presidential hopeful and Mumias East MP Peter Salasya, fueling speculation about a potential alliance. The two leaders appeared cordial but cautious, opting to keep their discussions under wraps.

Speaking at Kwa-Vonza market, Dr. Muli remarked, “Peter is a rising star, but if he wants to get to the top, he must align with the right minds—and the right minds are here in Kamba land.”
Though no formal pact was announced, political observers say a new third force could be taking shape, driven by youthful ambition and regional unity.

Dr. Muli’s bold stance now places pressure on other Ukambani political giants, particularly Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, to clarify their 2027 ambitions amid shifting loyalties on the ground.
With Kitui town still buzzing and his declaration making headlines across the country, one thing is clear—Dr. Augustus Muli has set the stage for a high-stakes showdown in the race to succeed President William Ruto.
