As Christmas Eve settles across the country, the familiar rhythms of the season return—families reunited after long journeys, church bells echoing from villages to cities, and a rare national pause after a year defined by pressure, debate, and endurance. For many Kenyans, this season is less about escape and more about reflection—on the choices made, the promises given, and the future taking shape before us.
The year 2025 forced the nation into difficult conversations. Rising living costs, sharpening political rhetoric, and questions around governance and accountability dominated the public space. As political formations shifted and the road to 2027 quietly took shape, Kenyans demanded more than slogans—they demanded honesty, delivery, and leadership rooted in reality.

From Lower Eastern, those national struggles played out in deeply human ways. At Channel 15 News, we reported from communities in Kitui, Makueni, and Machakos where drought stretched livelihoods to the brink, where sand harvesting and land use conflicts raised urgent questions of environmental justice, and where infrastructure promises—roads, water, health services—became political battlegrounds. We followed county assemblies, tracked development budgets, amplified citizens pushing back against exploitation, and documented the often uneasy relationship between local leadership and national power.
These stories mattered because they reflected the truth often missed in boardrooms and press conferences: that national policy is ultimately felt at the village level. Whether covering accountability struggles in county governments, political realignments within opposition and ruling coalitions, or the quiet resilience of families holding on through economic strain, our reporting remained anchored in the lived experiences of the people we serve.
At its core, Channel 15 News exists to strengthen democracy by informing the public. We believe accountability begins with truth, and truth begins by listening—especially to voices outside the centre of power. That responsibility is one we carry with humility and resolve.
As families gather this Christmas, may this season remind us that beyond party lines, ethnic identities, and political ambition, our shared humanity must come first. Let it be a moment for leaders to listen more, institutions to act with integrity, and citizens to continue demanding better—peacefully, persistently, and with hope.
From all of us at Channel 15 News, thank you for trusting us to tell your stories. As we step into a new year, we remain committed to fearless journalism, public accountability, and giving voice to communities too often overlooked.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
