Former Chuluni Ward MCA James Mbuvi Kula has been arrested alongside two others for allegedly impersonating Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers in a bid to extort money from unsuspecting victims.
Mbuvi, together with Mike Muthami Kasingi and Raphael Muthoka Kithembe, was nabbed at Three Hut Bar in Komarock, where they were allegedly waiting to prey on a target who had outsmarted them and alerted the authorities.

A search conducted by EACC sleuths led to the recovery of 12 mobile phones, 22 SIM cards, and 8 notebooks containing names and particulars of individuals the group had allegedly targeted.
The arrest follows a series of complaints from senior government officials and parastatal heads, who claimed the trio was masquerading as top EACC investigators to demand bribes.
EACC has since urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to such scams. The Commission clarified that its investigators carry official job cards and only summon individuals through formal written communication, directing them to appear at either EACC Headquarters, Regional Offices, or a police station.
The three suspects are expected to be arraigned in court to face charges of impersonation, extortion, and obtaining money by false pretense.
