Concern is growing across the country after former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju was reported missing under unclear circumstances, with his car later discovered abandoned in Nairobi.

According to information from family members and close associates, the former minister had on Saturday, March 21, reported to Karen Police Station that he had been followed by a suspicious vehicle the previous day. The vehicle was described as a white Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series that reportedly had no number plates.

The report was officially recorded under OB 21/21/03/2026, raising immediate concerns about his safety.

Later that evening, Tuju was expected to appear on Ramogi FM at around 7:00pm for a scheduled interview. However, he failed to make it on air, and attempts to reach him by phone were unsuccessful, as his phone remained switched off.

The situation took a more worrying turn on Sunday morning when Tuju’s son, Mano Tuju, received a call from the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Karen Police Station while attending a church service. He was informed that the former Cabinet Secretary’s vehicle had been found abandoned along Miotoni Lane in the Karen area of Nairobi.

Following the discovery of the abandoned car, the family officially filed a missing person report at the same police station under OB 17/22/03/2026.

The sequence of events — the report of being followed, the missed radio appearance, the switched-off phone and the discovery of the abandoned vehicle — has now triggered growing concern among the public and political observers, with many calling for swift investigations to establish what exactly happened to the former Cabinet Secretary.

Authorities are yet to issue a detailed statement on the matter, but investigations are expected to intensify as the search for Tuju continues.
