Two of Kamba land’s most prominent media personalities, both hosts of popular Benga music shows on radio and TV, have sparked an online showdown this week. The battle is for the title of “President of Benga Nation,” with each seeking to prove their dominance both online, offline, and across the airwaves.
The saga began when Dj Biado, a well-known figure on Kamba FM and Kamba TV, took to social media to celebrate his ten-year reign as the Head of Benga Nation. In his post, he acknowledged other significant contributors to the genre, including Dj Noma Noma of Athiani FM. However, this seemingly respectful gesture didn’t sit well with Noma Noma.
Feeling slighted by the comparison, Dj Noma Noma responded by organizing a press conference with local bloggers, where he ridiculed Biado’s claim to the title of Benga Nation President. Noma Noma, who hosts the “Syukile Mix” show on Athiani FM and runs a competitive league for artists, questioned Biado’s legitimacy. He argued that Biado’s presidency was hollow, claiming it lacked a solid following or what he described as a “cabinet.”
In his response, Noma Noma challenged Biado’s authority, insisting that his own claim to the Benga Nation presidency was more authentic, having been established during the reign of former President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013. He questioned where Biado was during that era.
Biado, however, was quick to downplay the feud, stating that he wasn’t interested in competing with anyone. He urged Noma Noma to abandon any thoughts of a rivalry, suggesting that his focus should be elsewhere.
The clash between these two heavyweights has captivated fans, with both camps rallying behind their preferred leader, as the debate over who truly deserves the Benga Nation crown rages on.
