The Catholic Women Association (CWA) on Saturday held their annual Mass at Our Lady of Africa Cathedral, Kitui, in a colorful celebration presided over by Rt. Rev. Joseph Mwongela, Bishop of Kitui.

In his homily, Bishop Mwongela urged the women to “rejoice in all circumstances,” reminding them of their vital role in building strong families, a vibrant Church, and a just society. He encouraged them to cultivate patience, forgiveness, and joy in daily life.
“Never stay angry,” the bishop said. “Endure trials, let happiness guide your life, and give hope to others.”

Drawing inspiration from St. Monica, Bishop Mwongela emphasized the power of prayer, particularly intercessions for children, and called on women to embrace the sacraments—especially penance—as a path to family unity. He described women as “pillars of faith, hope, and transformation in the Church and community,” urging them to safeguard their marriages and uphold Christian values.

Speaking after the Mass, Mr. Nicholas Mulila lauded the women for their steady growth in faith and encouraged them to embrace modern systems and digital tools to strengthen their activities. “Let us pray for one another and take good care of what we already have,” he said, adding that self-reliance and sustainability should remain at the heart of their mission. He also rallied the women to support the upcoming Diocesan Family Day.

Fr. Edward Mulwa echoed the bishop’s message, inviting the women to pray for priestly and religious vocations while actively supporting them. He further encouraged them to mentor the Pontifical Missionary Childhood (PMC) children in their spiritual journey.

This year, 11,677 women renewed their CWA membership—a clear sign of growth and resilience. The women expressed heartfelt gratitude to Bishop Mwongela for his constant guidance and presence on their special day, vowing to remain steadfast in their mission of faith and service.
