NLP Party Leader Dr. Augustus Muli has intensified his political messaging in Ukambani, calling for a “total political reset” as the region inches closer to the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a meeting with aspirants at his Missuuni residence in Kitui Central, Dr. Muli criticized what he termed as entrenched leadership that has dominated the region for decades, arguing that it has failed to deliver meaningful transformation.

He accused some leaders of inconsistency and shifting political positions depending on convenience, saying such conduct has eroded public trust.
“Leadership without consistency is deception. You cannot condemn a system yesterday and embrace it today, then expect the people to believe in your agenda. That is not transformation—it is political convenience,” he said.

Dr. Muli further argued that Ukambani has suffered under what he described as “recycled leadership and empty promises,” calling for a new direction anchored on accountability and development-driven politics.
“Ukambani has suffered long enough under recycled leadership and empty promises. As we approach 2027, we must reject double standards and choose a new path, one grounded in sincerity, accountability, and real development,” he added.

He urged residents to refocus their political priorities towards economic empowerment, particularly in agriculture and local industries, which he said remain the backbone of the region’s economy.
“Our future lies in rebuilding our economy—from empowering farmers to reviving local industries—not in aligning with the same structures that held us back,” he noted.
The NLP leader also appeared to take aim at long-serving political figures in the region, suggesting that leaders who have been in office for over 15 years should consider stepping aside to allow new leadership to emerge.

His remarks come at a time when political activity in Ukambani is gradually picking up, with leaders beginning to position themselves ahead of the 2027 polls.
