In a fiery press conference held at the SKM Command Centre on November 30, 2024, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka accused President William Ruto’s administration of orchestrating state-sponsored terrorism. This came in the wake of violent chaos during a funeral in Limuru’s Bibironi Village, where mourners were attacked, and political leaders abducted.
Kalonzo described the events as an unprecedented assault on democracy and accused the government of targeting critics with violence and intimidation. “What we witnessed in Limuru is nothing short of state-sponsored terrorism. This regime has weaponized fear to silence dissent,” Kalonzo said.

The funeral, which was meant to honor 23-year-old Erastus Nduati, descended into chaos on November 28 when armed assailants disrupted the service, injuring mourners and forcing the family to flee. The violence appeared to be aimed at individuals perceived as hostile to the Kenya Kwanza administration. Among the victims were Limuru MCA Christopher Ireri and former MP Peter Mwathi, who were reportedly abducted and later abandoned near Nairobi’s Southern Bypass.

The National Police Service (NPS) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have denied involvement, attributing the events to “a lack of advanced intelligence.” However, Kalonzo and his allies dismissed these explanations, terming them as blatant lies. “The evidence is irrefutable. This was a state-sponsored attack aimed at silencing voices of reason,” Kalonzo said.

The incident has sparked nationwide outrage, with opposition leaders warning that such actions threaten Kenya’s democratic fabric. Kalonzo further accused the government of failing to implement the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) reforms, including electoral justice and constitutional amendments.
“These acts of violence are a clear indication that the Kenya Kwanza regime has no interest in justice or the welfare of Kenyans. They are determined to claw back our democratic gains,” he stated.

The attack in Limuru has added to mounting concerns about the government’s approach to governance, with Kalonzo drawing parallels to the widespread public outcry against controversial deals involving the Adani Group earlier this year. While celebrating the cancellation of the group’s contracts in Kenya’s transport and healthcare sectors, Kalonzo questioned the lack of transparency surrounding these decisions.

In a direct warning to the government, Kalonzo vowed to stand firm against state oppression and election manipulation ahead of the 2027 polls. “We will not allow the balkanization of this nation or the theft of elections. The people’s voices will prevail,” he declared.
As political tensions escalate, Kalonzo’s remarks have intensified calls for accountability from the Kenya Kwanza administration. The opposition has promised to heighten public demonstrations in the coming months, signaling a turbulent period ahead for the Ruto regime.
