Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka today joined family, leaders, and creatives in Nairobi today to mourn the loss of beloved comedian and content creator Tabitha Gatwiri, who passed away on October 30, 2024.

Musyoka, together with former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand ‘Babayao’ Waititu, Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua, and Nairobi County leaders, expressed heartfelt condolences to Gatwiri’s family, recognizing her immense talent and contribution to Kenyan comedy.

A postmortem conducted at Kenyatta University Funeral Home revealed that Gatwiri died of positional asphyxia with brain edema.

Speaking to her father, Robert Kirimi, and her brother, Brian, Musyoka shared his sorrow, saying, “The global outpouring of sorrow and loss demonstrates how profoundly Gatwiri’s talents touched many lives.” He acknowledged her ability to bring joy and laughter to audiences through her unique comedic style.

Gatwiri, known for her comic skits delivered in a distinct Meru accent, had once collaborated with Musyoka himself, recording a memorable skit that humorously highlighted the challenges facing Kenyan youth today. This skit showcased Gatwiri’s talent and her insightful approach to comedy, leaving a lasting impression on many, including the former Vice President.

Key figures from the creative industry, such as Alex Mathenge, popularly known as “Security Engineer,” MCA Tricky, Naomi Kuria, and Shipira, stood with Gatwiri’s family during this difficult time, underscoring the profound loss felt across the entertainment community.

“May the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus,” Musyoka said, offering words of comfort to those mourning Gatwiri’s untimely departure.

As friends, family, and fans remember Gatwiri, her unique voice in comedy and her impact on the industry serve as a reminder of her talent and passion, with many hoping her legacy will continue to inspire the next generation of Kenyan content creators.
