The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has moved to withdraw the Sh1.1 billion Finland and Canada Education Programme scandal case against Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago and two county officials. The decision comes after gaps were identified in the initial investigation, prompting the DCI to hand over the case to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), which has stronger evidence, including crucial documentation collected from Finland and Canada.

The DCI noted that important information, such as money trails and the number of students involved, had been overlooked. As a result, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has approved the withdrawal of the current case, with plans to refile charges based on the comprehensive evidence gathered by the EACC. This case has garnered significant public attention due to the alleged mismanagement of funds meant for students studying abroad.
