The highly anticipated Wathi Wa Mukamba Festival, initially scheduled to take place from August 29th to 31st, has been postponed indefinitely, leaving many in the community puzzled and concerned. The decision comes as questions continue to swirl around the mysterious disappearance of the event’s key mobilizer and host, Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli.

Dr. Muli, a prominent figure in the community, has not been seen since launching a petition against the Azimio la Umoja coalition’s decision to replace his name with that of Wiper’s Dr. Koki Muli. His sudden disappearance has fueled speculation, with many questioning the real reasons behind the festival’s postponement.

In a statement shared by Alex Muli, an associate of Dr. Muli, on the official Wathi Wa Mukamba Festival WhatsApp group, the event has been rescheduled to a later date due to requests from potential guests who found the original dates unsuitable. The statement read:

    “Dear All,

Due to some unavoidable circumstances, we will unfortunately have to postpone the festival until a later date.

We have had a number of inquiries from partners from different regions who wish to participate in this festival but find the date not suitable.

In order to accommodate even more people, we have had to accept to postpone the festival.”

Despite the explanation given, the announcement has been met with mixed reactions. Many fans of the Wathi Wa Mukamba Festival have expressed their frustration, accusing the organizers of poor planning. One disappointed fan remarked, “Failing to plan is planning to fail.”

The postponement has left many wondering whether the rescheduled event will go ahead as planned, especially with the unresolved issue of Dr. Muli’s whereabouts. The festival, which celebrates Kamba culture and heritage, has always been a significant event for the community, drawing participants from across the region.

As the situation develops, the community remains on edge, hoping for clarity on both the festival’s future and Dr. Muli’s safety.
