Celebrated Ohangla musician Tony Ndiema has died, days after collapsing in Rongo, Migori County, in what has become a heartbreaking loss for Kenya’s music industry.
Ndiema’s death comes after an intense battle for his life that saw his family, fellow musicians and fans rally together in a desperate effort to raise funds for his treatment.

According to his family and management team, the singer collapsed in Rongo and was rushed to Doctor’s Plaza Hospital for emergency treatment. Due to the severity of his condition, he was later transferred to Mediforte Hospital in Kisii for specialized medical care.
Medical tests, including a CT scan, lung examinations and blood tests, were conducted, with doctors recommending an MRI scan to help establish the cause of his condition. However, the family revealed that financial challenges had delayed the procedure after exhausting their available resources.

As his condition deteriorated, Tony was transferred to Oasis Hospital in Kisii, where relatives disclosed that he had lost the ability to walk and speak. The family appealed to friends, fans and well-wishers to pray for him and support his treatment, expressing hope that he would recover.
The appeal drew support from across the entertainment industry, with prominent Ohangla artistes, including Prince Indah, Elisha Toto, Uncle Eddy and Omondi Ngoe, joining fans in standing with the ailing musician during his final days.
Despite the medical intervention and the overwhelming support from the public, Tony Ndiema succumbed to his illness.
