The County Assembly of Kitui will take its plenary sittings to Zombe/Mwitika Ward in Kitui East Sub-County from November 2 to 6, 2026, in a move aimed at bringing legislative business closer to residents.
According to Gazette Notice No. 16434, dated October 14, 2026, the sittings will be held at Zombe Huduma Centre Hall, beginning at 9am daily, as the Assembly conducts its normal business outside its headquarters.
The notice, issued under the authority of the Constitution of Kenya and the County Governments Act, informs Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) and the general public of the change of venue for the five-day session.

County Assembly Speaker Kevin Kinengo Katisya said the initiative, known as Bunge Mashinani, is intended to promote public participation and open governance by taking the Assembly’s proceedings beyond its main headquarters.
In a public announcement, Katisya invited residents of Zombe/Mwitika Ward, Kitui East Sub-County and the wider Kitui County to attend the sessions and witness the Assembly in action.
“Come and witness your County Assembly of Kitui in action,” the Speaker said.
The sittings will provide residents with an opportunity to observe county legislative proceedings firsthand as MCAs undertake the Assembly’s scheduled business.
The relocation is anchored in provisions of the Constitution, including Articles 10, 174 and 196, alongside relevant sections of the County Governments Act and the County Assembly of Kitui Standing Orders, as cited in the Gazette Notice.
Article 196 of the Constitution provides for public participation in county assembly business and requires county assemblies to facilitate public involvement in their proceedings and those of their committees.
The five-day programme is expected to place Zombe/Mwitika Ward at the centre of county legislative activity as the Assembly temporarily operates from Kitui East.
