Channel 15 News can independently confirm that there is no verified evidence linking controversial preacher Bishop Gilbert Deya to a reported road accident that allegedly occurred on Tuesday, June 17, at Namba Kapiyo, along the Kisumu–Bondo Road near Holo.
Earlier today, unverified reports circulated online claiming that Bishop Deya was among those injured after a trailer reportedly lost its brakes and plowed into his SUV, a Moi University bus, and two other vehicles. It was also alleged that students and lecturers from Moi University sustained injuries.
However, after thorough investigations by the Channel 15 News editorial desk, we found no official communication from the National Police Service, Kisumu County health authorities, or Moi University confirming Bishop Deya’s involvement.
Further, none of the country’s major media outlets have published any story supporting the claim, and no eyewitness reports or hospital records have placed Deya at the scene.
As of now, Bishop Gilbert Deya’s camp has not issued a statement, and repeated attempts by Channel 15 News to reach his office have gone unanswered.
