Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power outage that will hit several parts of Kitui County on Thursday, 20th March 2025, as part of an ongoing maintenance exercise.

According to the notice, the blackout will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting major markets and surrounding areas including Nuu Market, Mwangeni, Kaai Market, Imwamba Market, Mwambiu Market, Musukini Market, Masasini Market, Kawala Market, Kaliku Market, Mutito Market, Endau Market, Malalani Market, and adjacent customers.

The planned outage is expected to disrupt businesses, trading activities, and essential services that heavily rely on electricity, especially in rural market centers.

Kenya Power has urged residents and businesses in the affected regions to prepare for the disruption, adding that the maintenance is necessary to enhance system efficiency and improve future power supply reliability.

Meanwhile, locals are reminded to treat all power lines as live during the outage period.
