Emotions ran high in Mavui Village, Kyome Thaana Ward, Mwingi West Constituency as family, friends, and political leaders gathered to bid farewell to Lucas Muthoka — a respected UDA political influencer and digital mobilizer whose untimely death has left a huge gap in Kitui’s political landscape.

Muthoka, known for his mastery in using social media tools to champion the UDA party agenda, was laid to rest in an emotional ceremony attended by top leaders, including former Cabinet Secretary Peninah Malonza, Kitui West MP Charles Nguna, and senior UDA officials.

Eulogized as a modern-day political mobilizer, Muthoka’s ability to blend technical knowledge with political messaging made him a formidable force in local campaigns. “Lucas was the bridge between our message and the people. His digital skills brought life to our political agenda,” a UDA official remarked.

Away from politics, he was remembered as a loving father, a devoted husband, and a staunch Roman Catholic who practiced his faith until his final day.

In one of the day’s most touching moments, Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli, National Liberal Party (NLP) Leader and a close associate of Muthoka, moved mourners with a public pledge to support the family. Dr. Muli offered to clear the school fee balance of Muthoka’s daughter, promising to stand with the family during this difficult time.

“Lucas was not just a political ally but a brother. As NLP and as a friend, I will ensure his daughter’s education continues uninterrupted. This is the least we can do for a man who served his party, community, and family diligently,” Dr. Muli stated.
His gesture was met with resounding applause from mourners, symbolizing unity and humanity beyond political lines.

Muthoka’s death came just days after participating in a countywide water tank distribution program spearheaded by former CS Peninah Malonza, aimed at improving access to clean water for Kitui residents — yet another testament to his active involvement in community affairs.

As Mavui Village laid their son to rest, leaders and locals alike vowed to keep his legacy alive — that of a man who merged politics, family, and faith into a life of impact.

Rest in peace, Lucas Muthoka.
