Shock and grief have engulfed Nyandarua County following the tragic death of Beth Wahito Njoroge, the UDA nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Njabini-Kiburu Ward. Wahito died in the early hours of Sunday morning after her vehicle was hit by a bus at the Naivasha junction along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway at approximately 12:00 AM.

The seasoned politician and vocal advocate for grassroots development was pronounced dead at the scene, throwing the political and civic fraternity into mourning.
Confirming the devastating news, Speaker of the Nyandarua County Assembly Hon. Wachira Waiganjo issued a heartfelt condolence message, describing Wahito as a “courageous and committed leader” who blazed a trail in politics when few women dared.

“She stepped into leadership at a time when women faced many barriers in politics and public service. Her warmth, bold spirit, and fearless commitment to public service will remain etched in our hearts,” the Speaker said.
Wahito’s political journey spans over three decades. She served as a councillor in the defunct Nyandarua County Council, was a specially elected MCA in both the First and Third County Assemblies, and most recently worked as Kinangop Constituency Coordinator for UDA. She previously held key positions in the Democratic Party (DP) and later became Chairperson of NARC-Kenya in Nyandarua.

In the Assembly, she was the Vice-Chairperson of the Health Services Committee, and a Member of the Public Works, Roads, Transport, Housing and Energy Committee, among others.
More than a politician, Wahito was a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a guardian to many, whose community-centered legacy continues to inspire.

Her tragic demise comes as a deep loss not only to her family but to the entire Nyandarua political landscape.
The County Assembly has promised to honor her memory in a special sitting scheduled later this week.
