Kitui Central UDA parliamentary aspirant Boniface Musambi has appealed to President William Ruto to intervene and enhance security in Kitui County following what he described as a worrying rise in the killing of women, saying the trend has left families living in fear and demanding urgent government action.
Speaking on Sunday during a fundraising service at ACK St. Martin’s Church in Kitui Central Constituency attended by President Ruto, Musambi called on the national government to strengthen security operations and ensure those behind the killings are brought to justice.
He said the recent incidents had shaken public confidence, with many women now fearing for their safety as they go about their daily lives.
“Our women deserve to live, work and conduct their daily activities without fear. I respectfully appeal to Your Excellency to direct the relevant security agencies to intensify investigations, strengthen security and ensure those responsible are brought to book,” Musambi said.

The UDA aspirant noted that restoring public confidence in security would not only protect lives but also safeguard livelihoods, as many women are the backbone of families and local businesses across the county.
Beyond security, Musambi appealed to the President to prioritize the construction of the Kwagindu–Museve Shrine Road, saying the road would improve access to one of the region’s most significant religious sites while opening up the area for trade, tourism and economic development.
He also lauded President Ruto’s administration for implementing several development projects in Kitui Central, citing the construction of the ESP Market in Kalundu, Kitui Town, and a new storey dormitory at Kitui School as evidence of the government’s commitment to improving public infrastructure.

Musambi further praised the government’s land adjudication programme, saying residents of Miambani had, for the first time since Kenya attained independence, received title deeds under President Ruto’s administration.
According to him, the issuance of title deeds had ended decades of uncertainty over land ownership, giving residents security of tenure while unlocking opportunities for investment, access to credit and sustainable economic growth.

President Ruto attended the church fundraiser as part of his development tour of Kitui County, where political and community leaders presented their priorities and appealed for accelerated implementation of key development projects.
