In a scathing attack, NLP Party Leader Augustus Kyalo Muli has launched a blistering assault on Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, accusing him of “lying to Kenyans” and holding the nation hostage in the ongoing IEBC Selection Panel standoff. Muli did not mince words, branding Kalonzo’s actions as a betrayal of integrity and democracy.
“Kalonzo Musyoka should stop lying to Kenyans! As a leader and Presidential candidate, he must demonstrate the highest level of integrity,” Muli fired. “He knows very well that his candidate lost to me—16 votes against 7. Yet he continues to mislead the public with falsehoods!”
Muli’s comments come amid a heated political storm surrounding the IEBC Selection Panel nominations, a process pivotal to ensuring free and fair elections. According to Muli, Kalonzo’s refusal to accept the outcome is a selfish ploy to derail the process and stall reforms in the electoral commission.
“The key to unlocking IEBC lies squarely with Kalonzo Musyoka. If he truly cares about Kenya, he should immediately withdraw his candidate and stop this charade!” Muli declared. “This could be his greatest New Year gift to the people of Kenya.”
In a rejoinder to Augustus Muli’s remarks, Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka dismissed Muli’s claims and accused him of being a “proxy” for President William Ruto. Kalonzo alleged that Muli has deliberately stalled the IEBC Selection Panel process by filing unnecessary court cases, which he argued are driven by personal interests rather than national good. “Mr. Ruto’s proxy, Augustine Muli, has delayed the IEBC Selection Panel process knowing full well that he does not meet the criteria on any and all levels. This long-drawn-out and unnecessary process can, however, be curtailed as our Republic is bigger than one man,” Kalonzo said during his New Year 2025 address.
Kalonzo further called on President Ruto to take responsibility for the stalemate and instruct Muli to withdraw his cases at the High Court and Court of Appeal. He emphasized that the ongoing impasse is hurting the country and accused the Ruto administration of prioritizing individual interests over the welfare of Kenyans. “The buck stops with you, William Samoei Ruto,” Kalonzo declared, insisting that swift action is needed to unlock the IEBC stalemate and restore public trust in the electoral process.
The sensational showdown between the two political heavyweights has sparked national outrage, with Kenyans demanding an urgent resolution. Meanwhile, observers fear that the continued delay in constituting the IEBC may jeopardize the credibility of future elections.
With Muli’s fiery challenge now laid bare, all eyes are on Kalonzo: will he swallow his pride and step down, or will this battle escalate into a full-blown political war? Only time will tell.
