Standard Group journalist Collins Kweyu has been arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Migori and is currently being held at the Central Police Station in Nairobi.

The reasons behind Kweyu’s arrest remain unclear, with police yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
The Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ) has expressed alarm over the incident, saying they are making urgent efforts to secure the reporter’s release on cash bail.

In a statement posted on social media, KUJ Secretary General Eric Oduor disclosed that the arrest was linked to a corruption case involving a judge in Homa Bay.
“Journalist Collins Kweyu has been arrested. A judge in Homa Bay accused of corruption ordered for his arrest. The matter was reported in Migori. Police want to take him to Migori,” said Oduor.
The arrest has sparked concerns within the media fraternity, with KUJ insisting that due process must be followed and calling for transparency in handling the case.
