Catholic Diocese of Kitui Bishop John Mwandi has urged students to confront fear, remain steadfast in their faith and embrace forgiveness, challenging young people to draw strength from their beliefs as they navigate life’s uncertainties.
Speaking during a memorial celebration of St. John Paul II at St. John Paul II Institute, Bishop Mwandi encouraged students to face the future with courage and confidence in God rather than allow fear to undermine their well-being and potential.

“Be courageous to face the world. Never fear the world. Never be threatened by the world,” he told the students, reminding them that God remains close to them through life’s challenges.
Drawing lessons from St. John Paul II’s life, particularly his decision to forgive the man who attempted to assassinate him, Bishop Mwandi urged students to make forgiveness, dialogue and reconciliation central to their relationships.
He challenged them to seek pardon when they wrong others, forgive those who offend them and uphold honesty, respect for human dignity and compassion for vulnerable members of society.

The Bishop also cautioned students against measuring their worth through academic performance, popularity or the approval of others, reminding them that their value comes from God.
Linking his message to his episcopal motto, “Serve All in Love,” Bishop Mwandi called on students to demonstrate their faith through everyday acts of respect, service and kindness.
Meanwhile, Education Secretary Rev. Fr. Antony Muema urged the institute to sustain academic excellence, strengthen practical, skills-based training and uphold discipline. He also expressed hope that the institution would eventually attain a full university charter.

The College Director, Rev. Fr. Robert Mutui, called for unity and fellowship among students and staff regardless of their religious backgrounds, urging learners to cultivate maturity, independence and personal responsibility as they pursue their education.
