Kitui Deputy Speaker and Kitui Central parliamentary aspirant on the Wiper Democratic Movement ticket, Nzilu Nzioka, has intensified his grassroots engagement across the constituency, taking his campaign message of servant leadership, accountability and inclusive development directly to residents.
During a comprehensive tour of Mulango Ward on Saturday, Nzilu interacted with hundreds of residents in a series of community and cultural events, using the engagements to outline his vision for a more responsive and people-driven leadership ahead of the 2027 General Election.

His first stop was at Kiluluini, where he joined residents during the Nzisya kwa Nzule wa Kyulu cultural gathering. Addressing the community, Nzilu emphasized the importance of preserving the Kamba people’s cultural heritage, saying strong communities are built on unity, shared values and respect for tradition.
He noted that while development remains a priority, cultural identity should never be sacrificed, adding that communities that embrace their heritage are better placed to achieve sustainable social and economic progress.
The Kitui Central MP hopeful later attended a traditional dowry ceremony for Wenge in Katulani, where he reiterated his commitment to protecting local customs while advocating for modern opportunities that empower young people through education, innovation and skills development.

“Our traditions are our identity,” Nzilu told residents. “We will not abandon them as we build a future our children can be proud of.”

The day’s activities culminated in a town hall meeting at Ithiani in Kyangwithya West Ward, where residents openly shared the challenges they expect their next Member of Parliament to address. Among the key concerns raised were access to clean water, improved road infrastructure, youth employment opportunities and greater accountability in the management of public resources.

Listening to the residents, Nzilu pledged that their priorities would form the foundation of his legislative agenda should he be elected to Parliament.
In a sharp criticism of leaders who only engage voters during election periods, the Wiper aspirant said the time had come for consistent, accessible and accountable leadership.
“I am here to listen today so I can legislate tomorrow. When I get to Parliament, your voice will not be an echo—it will be my agenda. Leadership is service, not a season,” he said.
Nzilu’s latest tour forms part of an ongoing grassroots mobilization strategy that has seen him traverse different parts of Kitui Central, positioning himself as a champion of community-driven development, youth empowerment and transparent governance.
As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the next General Election, the Deputy Speaker continues to market himself under the slogan “Incoming MP, Incoming Change,” insisting that effective leadership begins with listening to the people and translating their concerns into meaningful action in Parliament.
