Kitui County is reeling in shock after a middle-aged woman and her minor were viciously attacked by an unknown assailant in the early hours of today. The chilling incident occurred in Tiva Village, Kyangwithya West Ward, Kitui Central, leaving the victims nursing serious injuries at Kitui Referral Hospital.

According to eyewitness accounts, the attacker, armed with a knife, ambushed the woman and her child before vanishing into thin air. Residents were left in panic as screams pierced the quiet night, drawing neighbors to the grisly scene.

Confirming the incident to Channel 15 News, Kyangwithya West Location Chief John Wambua stated that authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspect. “We are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the individual behind this heinous act. We urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons,” Chief Wambua said.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but locals speculate it could be linked to escalating insecurity in the region. Many have called on law enforcement to step up patrols and ensure justice is served.
