A senior officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) who had been on the run over the murder of his wife has surrendered to police in Naivasha.

The officer, identified as Daniel Macharia, had earlier been named as the main suspect in the killing that shocked residents of Roysambu.

    Victim Found Dead in Apartment

The victim, Florence Nyagah, 43, was discovered dead in her second-floor apartment along Lumumba Drive in Roysambu on the morning of March 1.

Her body was found inside the house under circumstances that police are treating as suspected femicide. Preliminary reports indicate she had suffered fatal injuries.

The matter was reported at Kasarani Police Station, prompting detectives to launch investigations before the suspect went into hiding.

    Suspect Surrenders in Naivasha

After days on the run, the senior DCI officer surrendered to authorities in Naivasha. He is expected to be transferred to Nairobi to face further questioning as investigations intensify. Police are yet to provide full details surrounding the motive of the killing.

    Growing Concerns Over Femicide Cases

The case has reignited debate over rising femicide incidents across Kenya, with calls for swift justice and stronger interventions to curb gender-based violence.

Authorities have assured the public that due process will be followed and that the matter will proceed to court once investigations are complete.
