President William Samoei Ruto has urged his Cabinet and senior government officials to concentrate on fulfilling the transformation promises made to Kenyans, rather than getting distracted by early succession politics

Speaking at the opening of the Third National Executive Retreat at the KCB Leadership Centre in Kajiado County, the Head of State dismissed speculation over his political future and reiterated that his primary focus remains on delivering results through the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
“I am not thinking about the next General Election,” Ruto stated firmly. “Our commitment must be to the transformation of our country, not to politicking.”

The retreat, which will run for two days, is aimed at assessing the progress made so far in the implementation of key policy interventions under BETA. The President praised his administration’s “pro-people policies,” saying they are already bearing fruit.
“The path to transforming our country has been bumpy, demanding, and has required us to make difficult decisions. Even so, we are proud of those decisions that are now paying dividends,” he said. “We remain focused as we build synergies that will spur our economic growth.”

President Ruto’s remarks come amid growing political noise around the 2027 General Election, with some of his allies and critics alike already positioning themselves for the next political cycle. His message at the retreat appears aimed at grounding his team and shifting the spotlight back to performance and service delivery.

The retreat brings together Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and top technocrats, and will review progress in sectors such as agriculture, housing, digital infrastructure, and healthcare—key pillars of the Bottom-Up agenda.
By calling on the Executive to double down on results over rhetoric, President Ruto is sending a clear signal: with three years still left in his first term, the time for delivery is now.
