    President has officially launched the bid by for election as a judge of the for the 2027–2036 term.

    Speaking during the event at , President Ruto described Justice Ndung’u as “one of Kenya’s finest and most distinguished jurists,” citing her long-standing contribution to legal development both locally and internationally.

    The Head of State highlighted her extensive experience spanning Kenya’s Parliament, the and the , noting that her work places her at the critical intersection of criminal justice, human rights and international law.

    Ruto praised the Supreme Court judge for her “legal erudition, intellectual autonomy and courage in decision-making,” adding that her track record demonstrates a strong commitment to justice and accountability.

    He further said Justice Ndung’u embodies a rare blend of judicial authority, integrity and legislative impact, qualities he noted are essential for the ICC as it continues its global mandate to end impunity for serious international crimes.

    The launch at State House marks Kenya’s formal entry into the race for representation at the Hague-based court, with Nairobi seeking to position Ndung’u as a formidable candidate on the global stage.
