President William Ruto has appointed Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, Hon. Aden B. Duale, and Hon. Salim Mvurya as acting Cabinet Secretaries for three key ministries. Mudavadi, the Prime Cabinet Secretary, takes charge of the Ministry of Information, Communications & The Digital Economy, a crucial docket overseeing Kenya’s digital transformation.
Meanwhile, Duale, who currently serves as Defense CS, steps into the role of acting head of the Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock Development, addressing food security challenges at a critical time. Mvurya, the CS for Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs, will also temporarily oversee the Ministry of Investments, Trade & Industry, driving efforts to boost trade and investment.
These appointments come as the President’s Cabinet Secretary nominees await parliamentary vetting, ensuring that essential government functions continue without interruption. Political observers see this strategic move as a demonstration of Ruto’s leadership and trust in his allies during this transitional period. The spotlight now turns to Parliament, where the nomination process is expected to spark intense scrutiny.
