Reports from sections of Indian media on Wednesday morning claimed that Kenya’s former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga has died while undergoing treatment in Kochi, India.

According to the reports, Odinga is said to have suffered a cardiac arrest during his morning walk and was rushed to Devamatha Hospital in Koothattukulam, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The news quickly spread across social media platforms, sparking a wave of shock and emotional reactions from Kenyans at home and abroad.

At the time of this report, Channel 15 News is yet to receive official confirmation from the Odinga family, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), or Kenya’s High Commission in New Delhi.

Born in 1945, Raila Odinga is one of Kenya’s most influential political figures, having served as Prime Minister between 2008 and 2013 under the Grand Coalition Government.

This is a developing story. Channel 15 News will update with verified details once official statements are issued.
