President William Ruto on Sunday made a generous donation of Ksh 20 million towards the completion of the St. Peter’s ACK Cathedral in Siaya County. The Head of State, who joined worshippers for a church service at the cathedral, further pledged Ksh 5 million in honor of Raila Odinga, despite the ODM leader’s absence from the event.

The President said his administration would continue supporting faith-based projects across the country, describing churches as vital institutions in fostering unity, peace, and development.

In a lighter moment that drew cheers from the congregation, Siaya Senator Dr. Oburu Odinga declared himself a “Gen Z,” insisting that President Ruto is firmly in the race for 2027 and “isn’t going anywhere.” His remarks appeared to downplay speculation about political realignments ahead of the next general election.

The visit comes at a time of heightened political debate in the country, with the President keen to extend his influence in regions traditionally considered opposition strongholds.
