President William Ruto has appointed Kipchumba Murkomen as the new Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration in a significant reshuffle aimed at bolstering service delivery under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). Murkomen, who previously led the Ministry of Roads and Transport, now assumes one of the most critical roles in government, overseeing national security and administrative coordination.

The reshuffle also introduced other key appointments. Former Health CS Mutahi Kagwe was nominated to head the Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock Development, underscoring the government’s focus on food security.

Former Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui will now lead the Ministry of Investments, Trade & Industry, while William Kabogo was tapped to head the Ministry of Information, Communications & the Digital Economy, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to technological advancement.

In the Foreign Service, Ms. Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u was named Kenya’s High Commissioner to Ghana, and Hon. Ababu Namwamba was nominated as Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON). Additionally, Amb. Dorothy Angote was appointed High Commissioner to Zimbabwe, and Dr. Andrew Karanja was named Ambassador to Brazil.

The President also made significant appointments to State Corporations, including Hon. Ndiritu Muriithi as Chairperson of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and Hon. Kembi Gitura to the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital.

These appointments, subject to parliamentary approval, are part of a broader effort to align ministries, state departments, and foreign missions with the administration’s agenda. President Ruto’s reshuffle is seen as a strategic move to enhance performance and deliver on the government’s transformative goals.
