Collins Kipchumba Kemboi, one of the most notorious figures behind the 2024 KCSE examination cheating scandal, was arrested today in the Kiamunyi area of Nakuru. Operating under the alias “Dorothy Jerop Kiprono,” the 23-year-old had become a thorn in the side of KNEC officials, amassing a staggering 78,000 followers on his Telegram channel and over 8,500 members across his various WhatsApp groups, all seeking exam leaks.

In a concerted effort to crack down on exam malpractices, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), in collaboration with their Nakuru County counterparts, launched a swift operation to apprehend Kemboi. The arrest came after an intense search of his residence, where investigators found Kemboi with the very tools he used to orchestrate the leaks.

Among the items seized was his primary asset—an Infinix Hot 10 Lite phone, which he used to deceive unsuspecting students. Also confiscated were multiple SIM cards, national IDs under different aliases, and a driving license. Further investigations revealed that Kemboi is a university graduate, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management. He works as a salesperson for an international company and hails from Kaseta, Sacho in Baringo County.

Kemboi, now in custody at Nakuru Central Police Station, faces charges of fraud and unauthorized possession of examination materials. He is expected to appear in court tomorrow at the Nakuru Law Courts.
