Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna has once again demonstrated his commitment to youth empowerment by securing overseas job placements for 20 young men from his constituency. This week, the first batch of beneficiaries boarded flights to different international destinations, marking the beginning of a transformative chapter in their lives.
According to the MP, the young men—leaving in phases—will take up various roles across sectors in countries that have partnered with his office for labour opportunities. “Their departure marks the beginning of long-awaited new chapters in their lives through my connection,” said Nguna.

He described the move as a long-term strategy to equip Mwingi West youth with exposure, skills, and the opportunity to not only uplift their families economically but also represent Kenya with dignity and hard work. “They are not just leaving as workers, but as Kenya’s ambassadors ready to seize global opportunities,” he added.
This overseas jobs initiative is only one of several development efforts spearheaded by the legislator:
Economic Empowerment: MP Nguna commissioned the Ksh 59 million Kakongo EPS Market, a modern facility with a cold room, ATM booth, and ICT hub to stimulate local trade and create jobs.
Education Development: He recently delivered a new school bus to Kiomo Secondary School and commissioned classrooms at Kakongo Primary School—key steps to improving access to education.

Road Infrastructure: Nguna has actively lobbied for the completion of the Kibwezi–Bondeni road, part of the Northern Corridor, which has remained incomplete for years. He continues to push KENHA to fast-track its tendering and construction.
Water Projects: In a bold personal sacrifice, the MP pledged his entire five-year salary toward the construction of 12 earth dams across the constituency to address perennial water shortages.
Environmental Conservation: Nguna is leading a long-term afforestation campaign, aiming to make Mwingi West the greenest subcounty in Kenya by 2040. As part of the initiative, households planting over 100 trees receive incentives including school fee support.
Support for the Elderly: He has actively promoted the Inua Jamii cash transfer programme, urging elderly residents to register for benefits and advocating for mobile money disbursement to improve accessibility.

The MP has called upon other young people in the region to explore such international opportunities, noting, “Your journey to a better future could start beyond our borders. Step forward with confidence.”
As more youth prepare for departure in the coming weeks, MP Nguna’s leadership continues to position Mwingi West not just as a region of potential, but one of action, transformation, and global reach.
