Machakos County witnessed an unprecedented political spectacle today as the National Liberal Party (NLP) launched a thunderous grassroots recruitment drive that drew thousands of residents into the party’s fast-expanding fold. What began as a modest convoy in Mlolongo quickly turned into a political wave as it made its way through Chumbi, then onto Machakos Town, before culminating in an electrifying rally in Masii.

Residents poured into the streets, waving NLP flags, dancing to music, and lining up to register as party members. The sheer energy at each stop left no doubt that the party’s message of inclusive governance and people-first leadership is resonating deeply across the region.
“NLP is not just another political outfit—it’s a revolution. We are offering a home for Kenyans who want real change, not recycled promises,” said one regional coordinator amid roaring applause from locals in Machakos Town.
With 31 active branches across the country, the National Liberal Party has positioned itself as a force for grassroots transformation. In Chumbi, a local youth leader explained that what made NLP different was its proximity to the people: “They came to us. They listened. They even helped register mama mbogas and boda bodas right here.”
The day’s events were marked by more than just symbolism. Thousands of new members were formally inducted, many receiving NLP membership cards on the spot. A party official in Masii noted that the turnout was not just support but belief—evidence that NLP’s ideology is taking root.

“For the first time, we feel like a party is coming to listen, not to lecture us,” said Mama Ndinda, a small trader who joined the party during the Chumbi stop.
As momentum continues to build in the run-up to the 2027 general elections, the party is now preparing for a critical moment in its internal structuring: the National Delegates Convention. Scheduled for June 28, 2025, at Woods Grounds, the convention will bring together eligible delegates from across the country to elect members of the National Executive Committee and ratify the amended party constitution.

Nomination forms are currently available at all NLP offices and on the party’s official website. All aspirants are expected to submit their completed forms by 5:00 p.m. on June 13, either in person or via the party’s email, info@nationalliberalparty.co.ke.
“The convention is not about titles—it’s about values and building a party architecture that is accountable to the people,” said the party’s Secretary General.
With the Machakos leg of the campaign now complete and the June convention fast approaching, it is evident that the National Liberal Party is no longer a fringe player. It is emerging as a national movement—rooted in the people, driven by vision, and unafraid to challenge the status quo.
As the orange wave continues to sweep through the counties, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: the NLP is not just rising—it is roaring.
