Narok, Kenya – July 14, 2025 — A man accused of fatally shooting a High Court advocate over a parking space dispute was on Monday arraigned before the Narok Law Courts following the approval of murder charges by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Paul Kanyinke Sena was presented before Deputy Registrar Hon. Phylis Shinyanda, where the court ordered that he undergo a mental assessment before pleading to the charges.
Sena is accused of murdering advocate Mandela Nabaala Leyian in the early hours of Saturday, July 12, 2025, at an entertainment establishment in Narok town. The fatal shooting reportedly occurred after a heated confrontation between the two, triggered by a dispute over the blocking of Sena’s vehicle.
According to police reports, Sena allegedly shot Leyian at close range during the altercation, leading to the advocate’s death on the spot. The violent incident has drawn widespread condemnation from members of the legal fraternity, with the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) describing the killing as a “brazen and senseless act of violence.”
The ODPP confirmed that it had reviewed the evidence and sanctioned murder charges against Sena. “The matter is serious and will be pursued with the full weight of the law,” a statement from the ODPP read.
Sena is expected to return to court on July 28, 2025, for plea taking after completion of the mental evaluation.
Meanwhile, investigations into the incident are ongoing as pressure mounts on authorities to ensure swift and fair justice for the slain advocate.
