Detectives in Nairobi County have launched investigations into the death of a gym trainer from Umoja Estate who succumbed to injuries after a brutal assault allegedly carried out by a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier over claims of an affair with his wife.
The deceased, identified as Alphy Migasha, reportedly crossed paths with the suspect, Nicholas Ireri, shortly after Ireri returned from military deployment in Somalia and learned of the alleged relationship.
CCTV footage recorded on December 22 shows Migasha seated outside a liquor joint in Umoja One when Ireri approaches him.
The two are seen exchanging a few words before the confrontation quickly turns violent.
In the footage, Ireri is captured forcefully pulling Migasha to the ground and repeatedly assaulting him as shocked onlookers attempt to intervene. Despite efforts by members of the public to stop the attack, the assault continues.
After the incident, the suspect is seen calmly walking away, leaving Migasha helpless and writhing in pain.
Family members rushed Migasha to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, where doctors confirmed he had sustained severe injuries, including fractured ribs, a broken leg, and serious chest trauma. He later succumbed to the injuries.
As the family begins funeral preparations, Ireri remains in custody awaiting sentencing and possible jail time, while his wife faces no legal consequences.
According to sheria and established legal principles, individuals who discover infidelity are advised to resolve the matter through lawful and peaceful means, including separation or divorce, rather than resorting to violence against third parties.
