Kitui Governor’s Personal Assistant David Musili has shared a deeply emotional Christmas message, opening up about the pain of celebrating the festive season without his wife, Emmah Musili, who died in a tragic road accident in October.
In a Facebook post shared on Christmas Day, Musili said this year’s celebrations feel hollow, revealing that the joy and warmth his family associated with Christmas went silent on October 30, the day he lost his wife.

“It’s a different Christmas for us this year. Our Christmas light went off on 30th October,” Musili wrote.

He described Emmah’s absence as overwhelming, admitting that grief has made even simple family moments exhausting.
“Girl, your absence is loud, too loud! I’m struggling, honey, it’s exhausting,” he added.
Musili noted that while he will try to give their children a meaningful Christmas, it will not be the carefully planned celebration their mother always looked forward to.
“I’m not sure our kids will have that great Christmas program you always planned, but I will try… what choice do I have?” he wrote.
How Emmah Musili Died
Emmah Musili died following a road accident near Spotlight Bar & Grill on the outskirts of Kitui town. The vehicle she was traveling in reportedly swerved to avoid a stationary car, veered off the road and rolled several times down a slope.

She sustained serious head injuries and was first rushed to Kitui County Referral Hospital before being transferred to Machakos Level 5 Hospital, where she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). She later succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment.
Musili revealed that their son Ethan was due for confirmation in church, noting that Emmah had already ensured he was baptized before her untimely death. He said he would take the children to church, allow them to choose how they spend the rest of the day, and later visit Emmah’s grave.
“My mind is sane. My body is exceptionally strong, but my heart is broken,” Musili shared.

Despite his grief, Musili thanked friends, family and well-wishers for their continued prayers and support, concluding with a line that captured the weight of his loss:
“Enjoy your Christmas. Mine seems postponed.”
His message has since drawn an outpouring of sympathy from Kenyans online, many of whom have sent messages of encouragement as he continues to navigate life after the loss of his wife.
