Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna has called on the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) to swiftly issue tender notices for the construction of the Kwa-Silu Migwani-Bondeni Road. Nguna emphasized the urgency of starting the project before the upcoming rainy season, warning that further delays could render the road impassable and significantly hinder the construction process.

According to the MP, timely advertisement of the tender could see the project completed by April next year, ensuring the road’s accessibility for local communities. His appeal comes just weeks after KENHA announced it had allocated Ksh 15 million to rehabilitate the road and make it passable ahead of the long rains.
The road, part of the Kitui-Kibwezi Highway, stalled during the Uhuru-Ruto administration due to a lack of funds, leaving the project unfinished.
