Detectives from Kilimani Police Station have arrested Consolata Nyangai, popularly known as for allegedly drugging and robbing unsuspecting revellers in Nairobi’s nightlife hotspots.
The arrest came after a Chadian national filed a report on November 9, claiming he was robbed following a night out at Gemini and Quivers clubs. According to the victim, he invited the suspect to his residence at Spring Gardens Apartments after an evening of drinking and socializing.
The victim alleged he was drugged and left unconscious, during which “Mchele Baby” made away with USD 4,000, Ksh 10,000, a Samsung S20, and a Corn C105 phone.
Detectives tracked the suspect to her hideout in Hunters, Kasarani sub-county, where they recovered the stolen phones, which were positively identified by the complainant.
Investigators also discovered a newly purchased 75-inch Samsung TV worth Ksh 107,000 and a Ramtons cooker valued at Ksh 55,000, believed to have been bought using proceeds from the crime.
In a surprising twist, police also recovered two national identity cards—one Kenyan and one Ugandan—bearing different names but featuring Consolata’s photograph, raising suspicions about her true identity.
Consolata remains in custody at Kilimani Police Station and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, November 18, 2024.
As the festive season approaches, this case highlights the need for heightened caution, particularly in social settings, where such criminal activities are on the rise.
