Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has nominated Agnes Kawila Mulewa, Timothy Kyalo Muange, and Christopher Okumu Ombunya to senior county leadership positions, following what he described as a competitive and merit-based recruitment process.
The nominations were officially forwarded to the County Assembly on August 5, 2025, for vetting and approval. If confirmed, Agnes Kawila Mulewa will serve as County Secretary, Timothy Kyalo Muange as County Attorney, and Christopher Okumu Ombunya as Secretary to the County Public Service Board.

Governor Malombe noted that the appointments were the outcome of a rigorous selection exercise conducted by a panel chaired by Dr. Nzomo Mwita, in line with the County Governments (Amendment) Act, 2020. The panel had received a total of 63 valid applications following a public call for applications on June 30, 2025.
“Each of the nominees emerged top in their respective categories and were selected purely on the basis of merit,” the Governor stated, emphasizing that the process was guided by principles of transparency, equity, and competence.

He further reiterated that the nominations uphold constitutional values, particularly those related to inclusivity, gender balance, and professionalism in public appointments.
The County Assembly is expected to vet the three nominees in the coming days before confirming their appointments.
